Full Description

Former school. Single storey yellow brick building, under a pitched gabled slate roof. Gabled porch. Stone coped gables with brick corbelling and stone kneelers. Stone hood moulds and detailing. There is a dedication stone above the entranceway. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the village had a National School, built in 1841. The school was considerably enlarged in 1871, and was attended in 1872 by over 70 children. {2}{3} It is unknown when the school was closed.
