Full Description
Cropmarks of possible boundaries and enclosure of possible prehistoric or Roman date, to the south-east of Burwell. The cropmarks are visible on an aerial photograph taken of this area in 1999, and show as a number of linear ditched boundaries, the majority of which are orientated on a roughly north-east to south-west axis. A possible enclosure is also visible, centred at TF 3701 7867, and with its one measurable dimension being 17m. {1}
An extensive series of natural geological features and spillways are known to exist along the eastern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, including this area near Valley Farm. It is possible that these features are the result of that previous glacial movement and activity, rather than being of archaeological origin, and their exact origin is uncertain. {2}
