Full Description

Site of a former school. The Welby Street School was a two storey polychromatic brick building in Flemish Bond, under a steeply pitched gabled slate roof. The gables were coped with stone and it had stone quoins and window dressings. The windows facing Welby Street were replaced at some point in the 20th century. The school closed in 1940 due to low attendance. Once closed, the building was used for storage until 1983 when it was demolished to make way for the construction of the Isaac Newton Centre on the site. {1}
