Full Description

Former school. Two school buildings. The main building to the east is a large red brick structure of red brick in Flemish Bond with ashlar string courses, window arches, and other details, under a steeply pitched roof of slate. Several large lateral stacks. Its plan is symmetrical, likely with one half being used as a boys' school and the other half for girls. The curtilage is shown divided down the middle on the 1888 and 1904 OS maps, creating two separate playgrounds. A further school building, not seen on the 1888 map, was built further to the west in around 1886 for infants. This is also of red brick, and is of the same style as the original building. The school was closed in March 1977. {1}{2}{3}{4}
