Full Description

Former school and schoolmaster's house. One and a half/two storey cross-wing plan building of coursed limestone, under a pitched gabled tile roof. Two lateral stacks. Small modern porch extension. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the school in Syston was founded in 1717, but was recently rebuilt at a cost of £500. {2} The building is shown in L-plan form on the 1905 OS map of Syston. {3} The school closed in the 1960s, with pupils transferred to Barkston school. {4}
