Full Description

Site of a former school. Seen on the 1888 and 1904 OS maps of Stroxton. On the 1888 map, the building has an L-plan form, with a separate cross-wing aligned southwest-northeast possibly representing accommodation for the schoolmaster. The main range appears to have a small porch to the southwest. On the 1904 map the building can be seen as a single range with a porch to the northeast, possibly suggesting the school was rebuilt between the two dates. {1}{2} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that a school was built in Stroxton in 1851 by Sir G. E. Welby. {3} The building was demolished at some point in the 20th century. Modern housing now occupies the site.
