Full Description

Former school. Single storey building of coursed limestone, under a pitched gabled tile roof. Gabled porch is faced with ashlar, and has a bell gable above with bell still in situ. Ashlar quoins, and ashlar hood moulds to doors and windows. There are modern extensions to the rear of the building. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the school was built by subscription in 1845. {2} Shown on the 1904 OS map of Old Somerby in a single range with a porch in its current location. {3} The school was closed at some point in the 20th century.
