Full Description

19th century school buildings including former schoolmaster's house. Two storey red brick buildings, under pitched gabled tile roofs. The schoolmaster's house is rendered and colourwashed. The school building has a red brick gable stack, while the schoolmaster's house has a modern replacement red brick lateral stack. A red brick extension of the front gable of the school building was erected in the second half of the 20th century. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory suggests that a school was built in Lenton parish in 1790, at a cost of £112. By 1856 it was being run as a National School, and was attended by children from both Lenton and Ingoldsby parishes. It is unclear if this school was on the same site as the current building. {2}
