Full Description

Former school. Single storey red brick building in English Garden Wall Bond, under a steeply pitched gabled tile roof. Stone quoins, gable coping and window mullions. Simple stone hood moulds above door and window openings. On the front elevation is a dedication plaque inscribed 'NON NOBIS DOMINE SED TUO (sic.) NOMINI ANNO DMI 1840'. One decorative stone and brick gable stack. A small section of the school's boundary wall appears to survive, adjacent to the gate. {1}{2} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the school was built in 1841, along with the teacher's house (MLI126722) in 1853. {3} The school was closed in the early 1970s. {4}
