Full Description

19th century school building. One and a half and two storey red brick building in English Bond with blue brick banding, under a pitched gabled slate roof. Stone window sills and lintels. The northern cross-gable has a bell gable, though the bell and apparatus have been removed. The two-storey range to the south, now a private residence, appears to have once been the schoolmaster's house. It has a large lateral stack. A large modern classroom block has been built on the site, and the schoolmaster's house has a modern extension to the south. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory notes that there was a school in the parish, supported by a Mr Reynardson. {2} The school is shown on the 1904 OS map in the same plan form, aside from the addition to the schoolmaster's house. {3}
