Full Description

19th century school building. One and a half storey red brick building in English Bond with some repairs or rebuilding in buff brick in English Garden Wall Bond, under a steeply pitched gabled slate roof. Blue brick banding. The cross-wing two storey range to the southwest is the former schoolmaster's house. It has a large ridge stack and a smaller stack on the front roof pitch. There are several phases of brick extensions to the northeast. {1} White's 1872 Trade Directory states that the school was built in 1870 'with master's house attached'. At the time it was attended by 70 children. {2} The 1905 OS map of Holbeach St Mark's shows two ranges of classrooms with the T-plan master's house attached, and an outbuilding to the west. {3}
