Full Description

SKELETAL REMAINS IN ROWLEY ROAD DURING LAYING OF ELECTRIC CABLE ON 2ND JANUARY 1967, 5 FT DOWN APPROXIMATELY AND 3 FT FROM THE SOUTH KERB OPPOSITE GATES OF NO. 12 AND 14 ROWLEY ROAD. ON 4TH JANUARY IN THE SAME TRENCH ABOUT 15-20 YDS EAST OF THE FIRST FIND WAS A LARGE NUMBER OF SKELETONS. THE SKELETONS ARE BELIEVED TO BE CONNECTED WITH GREYFRIARS INCLUDING A LEAD COFFIN FOUND IN 1962. IN AUGUST TO SEPTEMBER 1975, THIRTEEN SKELETONS WERE FOUND IN A CUTTING FOR A FOUNDATION TRENCH CLOSE TO AND PARALLEL WITH ROWLEY ROAD. INFORMATION FROM BOSTON POLICE HEADQUARTERS.{1}
