Full Description

Former primary school building. One and a half storey red brick building in English Bond, under a pitched gabled slate roof. Dentil course at eaves height. Buff brick arch lintels on window openings. There is a small porch extension to the northeast and a larger modern extension to the rear of the building. Aside from these two alterations, there is no change to the plan form shown on the 1905 OS map of Holbeach, on which the building is marked as a school. {1}{2} The school was opened in 1894. By 1933 its attendance had reached 139. It was renamed Holbeach County Primary School in 1948, and by 1953 attendance had peaked at 364. The school was closed with the opening of the new Holbeach Primary School to the north of the town. The building is now in use as a community centre. {3}
