Full Description
Several sherds of pottery found, including green-glazed and one hexagonal base, and some sort of imported vase with panels painted in lustre alternate blue and white. Also found were off-cuts of leather shoe soles. These items were found at a depth of approximately 8 feet.{1}
Wooden pipes were found during laying of electrical cable in High Street (TF327435c), some pieces were obtained and full lengths photographed. The pipes were made of whole fir tree trunk, length 3 feet to 10 feet, the centre hole 2 inches in diameter, the trunk diameter 6 to 8 inches. Excavation also showed wooden piles and old cobbled surfaces. A few sherds of pottery were recovered from well below the pipes, also some leather.{2}
