Full Description

Former school building. Single storey red brick building in English Bond, under a pitched gabled roof of tile. Cruciform plan cross-wing building. The wide front gable has a dedication plaque inscribed 'BOARD SCHOOL 1856'. One lateral stack. A modern porch extension has been added to the south. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the school was opened as a Free School in 1856. It was enlarged in 1871 and by 1872 it was being run as an Endowed School, with around 55 pupils attending. {2}{3} It is unclear when the school was closed.
