Former school building. T-shape plan red brick building in mixed bond, under a pitched gabled roof of slate. Large window opening on east gable with polychromatic brick arches. Windows on the south elevation have large decorative hood moulds. Dentil course at eaves height. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory mentions two former schools in the parish, Porrill's and Cowell's, which were combined to create a single endowment. One of the nearby bedehouses (MLI92639) was reserved for the use of the teacher. {2} The building can be seen in the same plan form on both the 1889 and 1905 OS maps of Benington.
