Full Description

Site of school buildings seen on the 1905 OS map of Butterwick, since demolished. The buildings consisted of a rectangular plan structure, possibly with a cross-gable to the southwest, and a small outhouse to the west. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the school was founded in 1665 by Anthony Pinchbeck, who endowed it with land in Freiston, Leverton, Friskney, Fishtoft, and Butterwick. It is unclear if the original school was on the same site. A schoolhouse is mentioned by White; this is likely the extant house to the east of the school (MLI126616), also seen on the 1905 OS map. {2} The site is now occupied by modern school buildings.
