Full Description
Former National School building. Single storey range red brick building with yellow brick quoins and ashlar window dressings, under a pitched gabled roof of slate. The roof level of the central three bays is higher than the two western and one eastern bay. One squat ridge stack. {1}
White's 1872 Trade Directory states that the National School was built in 1862. {2}
The school appears to have become overcrowded by the late 1930s, with 74 pupils and 2 teachers sharing just one classroom in 1939. It was recommended by Boston Rural District Council that more buildings be constructed to alleviate the problem. However, by 1953 the situation had not improved, and was described by one councillor as 'deplorable'. A replacement school, now Wyberton Primary Academy, was constructed in the mid-1950s. {3}{4}{5}
