Full Description
Former school building. Cross-wing plan red brick building in English Garden Wall Bond, under pitched gabled pantile roofs. Large two storey wing with gable elevation towards street, with yellow brick string courses between storeys and at eaves height and yellow brick cruciform and diamond patterned diapering. One large ridge stack. Single storey wing to the east running parallel with the street, rendered and whitewashed. One small ridge stack. {1}
White's 1872 states that the National School was built in 1866 at a cost of £200, and was at the time attended by 40 pupils of both sexes. {2}
The school appears to have been closed by 1947, and was possibly subsequently used for temporary housing. {3}
Mapping from the early 21st century has the building marked as 'The Old Post House', though it is unclear when it was used for this purpose, if at all. {4}
