Full Description

Former school and schoolmaster's house. Cross-wing plan one and a half/two storey buff brick building, under a pitched gabled roof of tile. The central north-south aligned range has a large ridge stack abutting the southern east-west aligned range, assumed to be the teacher's residence, which also has a gable stack at its west end. A long outbuilding to the rear of the school appears to have been partially demolished in the 20th century. {1}{2} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the school was built as a National School, with a teacher's residence, in 1854. The construction was funded by a Col. Amcotts, at a cost of £500. {3} It is unclear when the school was closed or when it became a village hall.
