Full Description

School building dating to the mid 19th century. Single storey red brick building in English Garden Wall Bond, under a pitched gabled tile roof. One gable stack. Several modern single storey brick buildings have been added to the school in the 20th century. {1} The building can be seen in an L-shape plan form on the 1906 OS map. The rear range appears to have been demolished and replaced in the 20th or early 21st century. {2} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the school was built in 1848, and was at the time attended by 50 pupils. {3}
