Full Description

Former school. Single storey brick building in Flemish Bond, under a pitched gabled roof of slate. Coped parapet gables with corbelled shoulders. Dentil course at eaves height. Two gable stacks, three lateral stacks. The larger street-facing gable has two infilled lancet windows flanking a large 12 light window with concrete or stone lintel, above which is an illegible dedication plaque or datestone. The eastern end of the building appears to be in disuse; the window lights are broken and the brickwork is in need of repointing. The western end has been converted for residential use. {1} The school was built as a National School in 1841, replacing an old free school in the village. It closed in 1974, with pupils transferred to the Gregory Croft CE (Aided) School in East Kirkby. {2}{3}
