Full Description

Former school. Two storey brick building, possibly built in two phases. Half buff brick in English Garden Wall Bond, half red brick in Flemish Bond, under a pitched gabled roof of slate. At least one original window opening has been infilled. There are decorative bargeboards on the gables of the southeastern wing. A modern sunroom extension has been added to the south elevation. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the parish school was built in 1849. {2} In 1957 the decision was made to close the school, though this decision faced opposition from the school's managers, the locals, and the MP for Horncastle. It is unclear when the school closed. {3}{4}
