Full Description

Former primary school. Large two storey brick building in Flemish Bond, under a pitched gabled roof of slate. Blue brick banding. Large pointed segmental arch window on front cross-gable, above which is a stone plaque bearing a coat of arms. Building has had several phases of expansion and alteration including outbuildings and a large extension to the rear. {1} It is unclear when the original school building on the site was erected, but a school board was in place in Baumber by 1883, so the school must have pre-dated that. The school underwent some expansion in the 1930s, with offices and outbuildings added. It closed as a primary school in 2010 and has since been used as a community special school. {2}{3}{4}
