Full Description

Site of a former school. Rectangular plan one and a half storey building, under a pitched gabled roof. The building was appended to the southeast elevation of the Free Methodist Chapel (MLI99100), where a gable scar can still be seen. {1}{2} White's 1872 Trade Directory states that the school was built in 1860 and was attended by about 40 pupils. A schoolmistress, a Mrs Mary Ann Addison, is listed as resident in the village. The school appears to have closed by 1930, with children being sent instead to the school at Hainton. It is unclear exactly when the building was demolished. {3}{4}
