Former school. Brick building in Flemish Bond with red brick stretchers and buff brick headers, under a pitched gabled roof of slate. Two wall dormers with blue brick decoration and small quatrefoil lights with concrete or stone surrounds, above large window openings with modern uPVC windows. Two squat gable stacks. A modern extension has been added to the rear of the building. {1} White's 1872 Trade Directory mentions a National School, constructed in the town in 1822—this is believed to be this building—and day schools associated with the Wesleyan chapel built in 1871 at cost of £1000 (possibly the large school building on Mill Road, MLI126459). The school appears to have been closed by 1970, when it appears in an advert for sale as "School House", Willingham Road. {2}{3} The building exists in the same plan form on the 1887, 1906, and 1950 OS maps of Market Rasen, suggesting that the extension to the rear post-dates these.
