Full Description

Former schoolmaster's, now a private residence. One and two storey, three bay red brick building in a T-plan cross-wing form, under a pitched gabled roof of slate. There is a porch on the front elevation. To the rear of the house is a single storey wing. The house is historically associated with the neighbouring primary school and was likely originally the schoolmaster's house. Both the 1906 and 1950 OS maps appear to show the school and house sharing a curtilage, suggesting the conversion to a private residence only occurred in the latter half of the 20th century. {1}{2}{3} The school is mentioned in White's 1856 Trade Directory, though no mention is made of a house for the schoolmaster. {4}
