Full Description

Former school built in 1856. In use as a village hall since 1968. It is a one and a half storey buff brick building under a pitched gabled roof of slate. One ridge and one lateral stack. Extended in 20th century, with lean-to extensions added to the east and south elevations, and an extension and widening of the western end of the building. The alterations to the main building can be seen on the 1950 OS Map, but the lean-tos appear to be later in origin and were likely built after the change in use. {1}{2}{3}{4} White's 1872 Trade Directory states that it was built as a Parochial School in 1856, and was attended in 1872 by 45 children. {5}
