Full Description

Unusual collection of buildings of limestone, yellow brick, and red brick construction, all under roofs of pantiles. Some two storey, some one storey. Most of the buildings show signs of modern alteration, including window infill and replacement, and the use of cementatious mortar for pointing external elevations. It is unclear how many of the buildings currently on the site are those built for the school. {1} White's 1856 Trade Directory states that the school was built by subscription in 1826, and had accommodation for the education of 80 children. {2} The group buildings show little change in plan since the 1906 OS map. {3}
