Full Description

Two storey, three bay, and two range brick building in Flemish Bond with an M-shaped pitched gabled and hipped roof. Cross-gable front elevation with mock Tudor gable end. Two small one storey brick outbuildings with gabled tile roofs. Originally included a U-shaped series of outbuildings, probably stables and a cartshed, to the rear, now demolished. White's 1856 Trade Directory lists Francis Raynor as 'victualler' at the Marquis of Granby. Interestingly, the 1872 Directory lists Thomas Rayner as 'farmer & victualler, Marquis of Granby commrcl. hotel', suggesting a change in the building's function between the two dates. {1}{2}{3}{4}
