Full Description

Former public house of 19th century date. Of two storeys and built of colour-washed brick laid in Flemish Bond, with a hipped tile roof with one lateral stack. Has an attached two-storey brick outbuilding, under a pitched gabled pantile roof with one ridge stack, possibly a former coach house. A significant gable scar on the outbuilding's south-east elevation suggests there were once further single storey outbuildings, possibly stables, on the site. The Plough is not mentioned in either of White's 1856 or 1872 trade directories, though a public house is marked on late 19th century Ordnance Survey maps of this area, suggesting this building was converted to use as a public house in the later 19th century. {1}{2}{3}{4}
