Full Description

Former school house, with date stone reading J.J 1872. Two and a half bay, two storey red brick construction in English Wall Bond, under a slate roof with slightly overhanging eaves. One gable stack in red brick. Gothic central entrance door, casement windows. A modern extension abuts the east elevation of the original house. School Cottage is of similar construction, single storey, with a modern infill linking the two buildings. {1}{2} White's 1856 and 1872 Trade Directories both mention a school in the parish, though the site of that building is unknown. {3}{4} The 1950 OS map still labels the building as a school, so it is assumed to have closed after that date. {5}
