Full Description

A probable Bronze Age round barrow has been identified in this location to the north-west of Thorpe Farm, with the site being scheduled in January 2023. The barrow is located near to the crest of a hill, on land that slopes to the east and north-east towards an un-named stream. It is visible as clearly defined cropmarks on aerial photographs taken of this area in 1968 and 2010, with cropmarks of a Neolithic long barrow also visible to the north-west (see MLI126212). The round barrow appears as a roughly circular cropmark, measuring approximately 38m in diameter. It is not visible on the ground to the naked eye, and there is no trace of a mound that can be seen in the landscape. {1}{2}
