Full Description
The oldest part of the house, the original house, was built in 1799 and became a service wing when the 1835 Tudor-Gothic house was enlarged in 1851. The 1799 house was refaced with white brick so as to match the new wing. No priory ever existed in Hagnaby; the owner, Thomas, Coltman, added "Priory" to the name possibly for a greater appearance of grandeur. There was, however, a monastic institution in Hagnaby near Alford. A large part of the house was demolished in the 1920s and all that remains is the old service wing. {4}
