Full Description

A Type FW3/23 pillbox located on the Wet Dock Knuckle at the Port of Boston. It was planned to be demolished after a building survey undertaken in October 2021. The pillbox probably dates to 1940 or 1941. It is a east-west orientated rectangular single storey structure with two square chambers. The pillbox was built out of concrete and the eastern chamber has three embrasures on the northern, eastern and western flanks aiming at the Haven and Wet Dock Entrance. At some point in the late 20th century the pillbox had been clad in brick and repurposed as a monument to conmemorate the centenary of the Port of Boston. {1}
