Full Description

St Gilbert's church, Victorian in date. {1} St Gilbert's church was rebuilt in 1847 by S. Lewin, the medieval stonework suggests that it is indeed earlier than the Victorian date that is often cited for it. After it was rebuilt it was used as a Chapel of Ease and in 1922 it was dedicated as a parish church. The chancel was built in 1854 in stone and is perpendicular in style with elaborate hammerbeam roofs on octangle corbles. The stained glass in the east window is by Wailes.
