Full Description

The village hall at Holton le Moor was built in 1910, under the direction and designs of Rev. Thomas George Dixon, the squire of the parish. Dixon enlisted the local craftsmen Jonathan Mills and George Saunby to construct the building, which is styled in a mock late medieval or Tudor design. The hall is a timber framed building, set on brick footings, with a hipped pantile roof. The plaster panels set within the timber framing on the outside of the building show a variety of scenes from village life, mixed with patriotic inscriptions. The railings around the hall continue this theme, carrying the inscription 'Holton will flourish if all do their share'. The hall has been used for a variety of purposes over the years, being the venue for a number of local clubs and groups, including a music society, social club, village library and rifle club. {1}{2}
