Full Description

Former brewery, thought to have been established in the mid 19th century. The brewery formed a strong association with the adjacent Mermaid Inn (see MLI126054), but also likely provided beers and drinks to a range of other inns and public houses in the local and wider area. The brewery appears on the 2nd edition 25" Ordnance Survey County Series map as a large range of attached buildings, aligned on a roughly east to west axis, on the north bank of the River Glen. The brewery had ceased production by the mid 20th century, with the demolition of all the buildings taking place soon after. {1}{2} The brewery was established at some point between 1832 and 1838 with a maltings, malt offices and other associated buildings. It was demolished in 1939. {3}
