Full Description

Former manager's house at the Boston Gas Works. The house is thought to have been constructed in about 1871, at the same time that a major phase of expansion was conducted at the works (see MLI92060). It is thought that the building may have also housed the company's boardroom. The house is of two storeys, being built of red brick, with yellow bricks used for detailing around the window and door openings and for decorative bands around the building. The pitched roofs are of slate, with two brick chimney stacks at the main gable ends. Later alterations have added a single storey extension to the northern side. {1}{2}{3}
