Full Description
Noah's Ark was the name given to a former 19th century pilot vessel, which had been deliberately run aground at Gibraltar Point c.1870. The vessel had previously been used to guide other ships into the harbour at Boston, until it was bought by the Perrin family and permanently moored at Gibraltar Point. It was chained to an anchor point just off the River Steeping, and was converted into a home by the family, who also used it to sell refreshments and souvenirs to visitors and tourists. The vessel was in rather poor condition by the early 1900s, being used for storage rather than accommodation, and was dismantled and burnt c.1905. {1}
