Full Description
During a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording at 20, King Street, Market Rasen, an east-west aligned boundary ditch was identified. The ditch extended beyond the eastern and western limits of the ground reduction plot. It was very shallow and heavily truncated, most likely due to later ploughing activity which was substantial. No finds were encountered in the fill, however it is likely to be medieval in origin, perhaps denoting and defining the northern boundary of the two medieval burgage plots in the site area, which would have originally fronted onto the northern side of King Street. The lack of further medieval evidence may be due to the substantial ploughing activity. {1}{2}
