Full Description
Earthwork remains of medieval ridge and furrow were identified in this location to the east of Stockwith Mill, in Harrington parish. The remains could be seen as two adjoining blocks of faint earthworks on the Google Maps aerial photographic layer. The northern block of remains are aligned on a roughly north-west to south-east axis, whilst the southern block is aligned on a roughly south-west to north-east axis, indicating a division in the former open field system here. The modern road from Hagworthingham to Harrington clearly bisects the southern block, suggesting any earlier route between these settlements may have taken a slightly different route in this location. {1}
