Full Description

The former coach house in the grounds of Nettleton House was the subject of a photographic survey, conducted in May 2020 to inform its proposed conversion to use as a holiday let. Nettleton House was built in 1827 (see PRN 55675), and it is thought likely that the coach house was built at or around the same time. The coach house is single-storey with a hipped slate roof and a square, two-storey tower in the central bay. The building was originally built using yellow brick, and has later repairs and extensions of red and brown brick. The main façade was the southern elevation, which has a large coach arch at the base of the tower structure, although this was later infilled with timber double doors. There are also 2 large arch windows on the western side of the southern elevation. The western elevation was built using red and brown brick and has 2 large arched windows and a large rectangular window. The interior of the coach house had been partially converted to residential use prior to the survey, and it was also being used for storage. The tower had timber stairs that led to the undeveloped 1st floor. The northern and eastern elevations were not photographed during the survey. {1}
