Full Description

A large quantity of medieval ceramics has been found over a number of years by holders of plots at the Walter Gardens Allotments. The assemblage was largely comprised of sherds of medieval shelly ware pottery, but included pieces from Toynton ware and Lincoln ware vessels. The assemblage also included a piece of medieval roof tile, which had a distinctive small lump used to help in its hanging. A selection of the finds were retained by the Horncastle History and Heritage Society. {1}
