Full Description

Farmhouse at Mill House Farm, to the north of Walesby. The building is thought to date to the early to mid 19th century, possibly being built in the 1840s. It is of two storeys, laid out in a simple rectangular plan form, and features a number of single-storey outshuts and extensions. The house is constructed of brick covered by a cement-based render, and features a pitched, slate roof with chimney stacks to each gable end. {1}{2} The farmhouse was the subject of a detailed programme of historic building recording, conducted in December 2019 to inform its proposed demolition and re-building. Analysis of historic Ordnance Surveys maps of this area would suggest that the building dates to the mid 19th century, being built at some point between 1847 and 1887. Considerable alterations were made to the farmhouse during the 20th century, and little of its original fabric was apparent during the recording. Some original internal features were noted, however, including hooks for hanging game fixed to the ceilings of the kitchen and former pantry. {3}{4}
