Full Description
The stables and cart sheds at Bruff Farm were included in a programme of historic building recording, conducted in August 2013 to inform their proposed conversion into residential use. There are two stable blocks and two cart sheds, located at the north-eastern end of the crewyard. The buildings are thought to date to the late 19th century, being constructed very likely just after the adjacent threshing barn and granary (see PRN 58320). They are not depicted on a parish plan map from 1866, but do appear on the 1st edition 6" Ordnance Survey County Series map, suggesting a date of construction around the 1870s. The buildings are single storey with a mix of pitched and hipped roofs covered in red clay pantiles or modern corrugated concrete sheeting. They were built out of red brick laid in English Garden Wall bond with lime mortar. {1}{2}{3}
