Full Description

Ridge and furrow field system, adjacent to Gilby deserted medieval settlement (see PRN 50534) in Pilham. The ridge and furrow is visible in aerial photographs, and survives as earthworks and cropmarks. It was identified and recorded as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1}{2}{3}{4} The scheduling includes the full extent of the surviving remains of the village, and the only surviving parts of the once extensive area of medieval open fields. {5} An area of ridge and furrow northeast of the village, recorded as part of NMP, has been levelled through arable cultivation. {6}
