Full Description

Second World War Stanton air raid shelter, to the east of Sea View Farm, Saltfleetby. About half the pre-cast structure (some 5ft in length) survives, along with the pit it once covered. {1}{2} The shelter was examined in detail in September 2019, during a site visit by staff of Lincolnshire County Council, Natural England and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust. The structure has a pronounced keel form, with six of the bays surviving intact. It was thought that the shelter likely provided a refuge for those manning the nearby pillbox (see MLI125114) and anti-aircraft gun battery (see MLI125588). {3}
