Farm building at The Grange, Usselby. It likely dates to the mid 19th century, as it appears on the 1st edition 6" Ordnance Survey County Series map. {1} The farm building was briefly recorded by the owners in May 2019, prior to proposed alterations. The original use of the building is unknown, and the building has undergone significant alterations since it was first built. The structure is built out of brick, which have been rendered or painted in white. The roof is hipped and covered in red pantiles, although this is new and was added by the previous owners (prior to 2011). The north elevation has a single doorway and a blocked window opening. The eastern elevation is the main elevation for the building, and it has 4 doorways and a single window opening. Three of the doors have been narrowed using wooden boards, and the fourth has been narrowed with brick infill. At the south end of the elevation, there is a section breezeblock and brick infill with one of the doorways in it. This is likely a large opening into the building that has been closed. The southern elevation has a single boarded up window. The western elevation has a single door at the south end of the elevation that has been narrowed using brick. It also has 2 windows, one of which has been boarded closed, and a large open in the center of the elevation has been boarded shut using corrugated sheeting. The interior is divided into 5 rooms. These have been used as stables and as storage. {2}
