Full Description

Earthworks of medieval ridge and furrow, to the east of Follyhill Cottage, Long Bennington. Froms part of a larger medieval field system of surviving remains, to the west of Follyhill Cottage (over the county boundary, in Notts). Identified on aerial photography examined as part of the National Mapping Programme. {1} Whilst the earthworks on the Nottinghamshire side of the county boundary are clearly discernible and appear to be in good condition, the remains on the Lincolnshire side seem to have all been removed by more recent agricultural ploughing. No trace of them can now be seen on either the Bing Maps or Google Maps aerial photographic and satellite imagery layers. {2}{3}
